Shipping & Returns

How we price parts, how shipping works for imports vs in-stock items, and our all-sales-final return policy.

Two ways we sell parts

Sakura Spares uses a hybrid pricing model because BMW parts in Tanzania come from very different supply chains.

1. In-stock parts (sitting in our Dar warehouse)

  • The price you see is the landed cost — the supplier price plus what we paid to bring it to Dar (freight, customs, VAT-on-import, processing).
  • You can add to cart and check out instantly. You pay just the listed price + 18% VAT + the local last-mile delivery fee.
  • Look for the green “In stock” dot on a product to know it's stocked.

2. Import-to-order parts (sourced from Germany, Korea, Dubai, China or Japan)

  • The price you see is the supplier cost only— it doesn't include freight, customs duty, VAT-on-import or last-mile delivery.
  • You can't add these directly to cart. Instead, click Get a landed-cost quote on the product page, or use our quote form.
  • We'll quote the all-in landed price (supplier + DHL/FedEx freight + customs duty + 18% VAT + delivery to you) within an hour during business hours. You approve, you pay, we source.
  • Lead time: 7 days via DHL/FedEx Express, or 14–21 days standard freight for a lower rate. You pick the speed when we quote you.

Why we can't flat-rate international shipping: A brake pad set weighs 2 kg; a brake disc set weighs 14 kg; a transmission weighs 80 kg. DHL Express from Munich to Dar charges differently for each. A flat rate would either systematically overcharge for small parts or systematically lose money on heavy ones. Quoting case by case keeps it honest.

Local last-mile delivery (from our Dar warehouse to you)

  • Warehouse pickup — free.Collect from our Dar es Salaam warehouse Mon–Sat. We'll send the exact address by WhatsApp once your payment lands.
  • Dar es Salaam delivery — TZS 10,000. Bolt-rate door-to-door anywhere in Dar. Same-day for orders placed before 12pm if the part is in stock.
  • Upcountry dispatch — TZS 30,000. Via bus parcel office to any town in mainland Tanzania. We send you the bus company, route and parcel number on WhatsApp.

Heavy or oversized parts

Engine blocks, transmissions, full doors, complete sets of wheels and other oversized items need freight forwarding rather than Bolt delivery. We route these through Sakura Logistics— same group, but they quote freight directly. Message us if you're ordering anything that won't fit in a regular car boot and we'll arrange it.

Customs duties & taxes (for imports)

Our landed quote already includes everything you owe. There are no surprise charges at your door. The line items inside an import quote typically are:

  • Supplier cost — the part itself, ex-works from the dealer.
  • Freight — DHL Express or standard sea/air to Dar.
  • Import duty — typically 10–25% per the EAC Common External Tariff (depends on HS code).
  • Import VAT — 18% on the dutiable value.
  • RDL — 1.5% Railway Development Levy.
  • Processing & delivery — clearing fees and last-mile to you.

Returns policy

All sales are final.We don't accept returns for change of mind or wrong-part-ordered scenarios.

That's why we'll always confirm fitment with you on WhatsApp before you pay — send us your chassis code (E90, F30, G20…) or your VIN, and we'll cross-check against the manufacturer's catalogue. If it doesn't fit, you're not buying.

Exceptions

  • Wrong part shipped (our error)— we'll exchange at our cost or refund in full within 7 days of delivery.
  • Damaged in transit— report the damage on WhatsApp within 24 hours of delivery, with photos. We'll claim against the courier and replace your part.
  • Faulty Genuine BMW or OEM part— manufacturer warranty applies. We'll help you raise the warranty claim with the supplier.

Cancellations

In-stock orders can be cancelled before dispatch (usually within the same day). Import-to-order quotescan be declined at no cost before you approve and pay; once we've placed the order with our supplier, the order is committed and we can no longer cancel.
